Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly stabbed his five-year-old daughter to death in RAC No. 14 village of Doraguda, under Chitrakonda block in Malkangiri district, on Wednesday.

According to reports, the accused, Sanjeev Bhatra, unexpectedly attacked his daughter while she was playing, stabbing her in the stomach with a knife. Hearing the child’s screams, her mother rushed out and found her daughter lying in a pool of blood.

The injured child was immediately taken to the Chitrakonda Community Health Center (CHC), but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Police were informed of the incident, and the body was seized for investigation. Sanjeev Bhatra has been arrested, and an inquiry into the motive is ongoing.

Villagers suspect that the crime may have been influenced by Sanjeev’s second wife. The child’s grandfather, Vinod Bhatra, has alleged that his son committed the murder under the influence of his second wife.
