Odisha introduces 10% reservation for retired Agniveers in uniformed services
Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: In the exercise of powers under Article 309 of the Constitution, the Governor of Odisha on Friday introduced rules for a 10% horizontal reservation for retired Agniveer personnel in the state's Uniformed Services.
These rules, titled the Odisha Retired Agniveers (Employment in Uniformed Services) Regulations, 2024, will come into effect upon their publication in the Odisha Gazette.
Under the regulations, "Retired Agniveers" refers to individuals who have completed four years of service in the armed forces under the Agniveers Recruitment Scheme of the Government of India. A "Retired Soldier" is defined as per the Retired Soldiers (Employment in State Civil Service and Posts) Regulations, 1985. "Uniform Service" includes the police, forest, fire services, and any other service declared by the government.
A 10% horizontal reservation will be provided to retired Agniveers for all ‘C’ and ‘D’ category posts in uniform services through direct recruitment. This reservation is in addition to the existing 10% reservation for retired servicemen.
Retired Agniveers must meet the minimum qualifications specified for the post at the time of receiving their Agniveers Certificate. The age limit for retired Agniveers in these posts will also be extended by three years.
