Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: Senior IPS officer Suresh Devadatta Singh officially assumed charge as the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police on Monday afternoon, succeeding Sanjeev Panda. Prior to this, Singh served as the Additional Director General of Police, CID-CB, Cuttack.
A 1998-batch IPS officer, Singh was appointed to his new post following a notification from the Odisha Home Department issued on Sunday evening. Upon his arrival at the Police Commissionerate headquarters, Singh was accorded a guard of honor, after which he took over responsibilities from Panda, who has been reassigned as ADG, Training, and Director at BPSPA.
After assuming office, Singh emphasized a balanced approach to law enforcement, stating that while the police will adopt a firm stance against criminals, they will remain sensitive and approachable to the public. He also assured that justice will be delivered within the framework of the law.
Outgoing Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda reflected on his tenure, particularly the past eight months, describing them as challenging yet productive. He highlighted key achievements, including the successful handling of elections and the recovery of numerous stolen items, such as around 2,000 gold chains and thousands of motorcycles.
