Bhadrak tensions ease, administration imposes restrictions on public gatherings

Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: The situation in Odisha's Bhadrak district, which has been troubled by communal unrest for three days, has shown signs of improvement. In light of the situation, the district administration has allowed shops to open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm on Monday.
However, prohibitory order remains in effect across the district, prohibiting large gatherings, and internet services have been suspended. Internet access will only be available through leased lines for banks, corporate institutions, and large industries.
The administration has urged residents to avoid gatherings of five or more people. Despite the restrictions, shops in areas like Dhamnagar and Dobal have reopened today, and bank transactions are now permitted.
So far, 15 people have been arrested in connection with the violence sparked by a Facebook post three days ago. Police have indicated that more arrests may follow. The DIG has appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or believing rumors and advised residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
