Bhubaneswar, Sept 21: In a tragic incident, a married man and his teenage girlfriend were found hanging from a tree in Alipur village, under Salipur police limits in Cuttack district, on Saturday.

The deceased, Manoj Samal, 30, a resident of Alipur, had been married for five years and was the father of a three-year-old son. His companion, a 17-year-old girl, hailed from the neighboring village of Paga.

Sources revealed that despite his marriage, Samal had been in a relationship with the teenager for the past few months. The girl was reported missing by her father the previous evening, leading to a complaint being filed at the Paga outpost. The girl’s family was unaware of her relationship with Samal.

The two left Samal’s home together and went missing, prompting his family to search for him. Villagers later discovered their bodies hanging in a secluded area. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are investigating the suspected double suicide.
