Three siblings die from snakebites in Odisha's Boudh

Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: In a tragic incident, three minor siblings lost their lives to snakebites, while their father remains in critical condition at Boudh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
The incident took place late Sunday night in Chariyapali village, under Tikarpada panchayat in Odisha’s Boudh district.
According to reports, two young girls, Sudhirekha Mallik (13) and Shubhrekha Mallik (12), had returned home from their hostel on Sunday to celebrate Nuakhai with their family. After the day's celebrations, the family retired to their bedroom. The two sisters were sleeping alongside their younger sister, Surbhi Mallik (3), their brother, and their parents when a venomous snake bit the three girls and their father.
Instead of seeking immediate medical attention, the family initially turned to a sorcerer for help. When the sorcerer's efforts failed, the family members—three sisters and their father, Sulendra Mallik—were rushed to Boudh DHH.
Tragically, the doctors at the hospital declared the three siblings dead on arrival, while their father was admitted in critical condition. As his condition worsened, Sulendra was later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
