Ganesh immersion turns fatal: One boy dead, another critical in Balasore
Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: In a tragic incident, an 11-year-old boy lost his life, and his younger cousin is in critical condition after drowning during the immersion of a Lord Ganesh idol at Kuligan village under Khantapada police station in Balasore district on Sunday.
The incident occurred during the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony in a local pond, where several children were present. The two brothers, Pratyush Ranjan Rout (11) and Satyajit Rout (8), accidentally slipped into the deep water and drowned.
Local residents immediately sprang into action, rescuing the boys and rushing them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Khandapada. Tragically, Pratyush was declared dead upon arrival, while Satyajit is currently receiving treatment, with his condition still critical.
The heartbreaking incident has cast a pall of grief over the community, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
