Bay of Bengal low-pressure system to impact Odisha with heavy rains

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: A low-pressure area is expected to develop over East Central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal on August 29, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). As a result of this weather system, Odisha is likely to experience an active wet spell from August 28 to 31, as stated in an IMD bulletin.
The system is anticipated to move west-northwestwards, nearing the coasts of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh over the following two days.
The IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall, ranging from 7 to 11 cm, at isolated places across several districts, including Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur until 8:30 AM on Wednesday.
On August 28, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam districts. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas. Additionally, on August 29, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada districts.
