Odisha Assembly disrupted for third day amid protests over hooch tragedy and ED raids
Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: For the third consecutive day, the Odisha Assembly Session was disrupted by chaos as members of Congress and the BJD continued their protests, prompting Speaker Surama Padhi to adjourn the House until 4 pm, halting the day's proceedings.
The second phase of the Odisha Assembly Session, which began on a turbulent note on Thursday, saw opposition parties Congress and Biju Janata Dal causing an uproar over the Chikiti hooch tragedy and ED raids. The disorder led the Speaker to adjourn the House within minutes of the session's start, until 11:41 am.
When the session resumed at 11:41 am, the chaos persisted, with Congress and BJD members raising slogans over the ED raids and the Ganjam hooch tragedy. Despite Speaker Padhi's attempts to restore order, the disruption continued, forcing her to adjourn the House once again until 4 pm.
