Attacker in Berhampur Raksha Bandhan tragedy dies of injuries

Bhubaneswar, Aug 20: In a tragic turn of events, the attacker involved in the Berhampur sister death case, which occurred on Raksha Bandhan, has succumbed to his injuries, according to reports on Tuesday.
The shocking incident took place on Monday in the Jagannath Vihar area under the Bada Bazar police station limits of Berhampur, Odisha.
The accused, identified as Ashutosh, a distant relative, allegedly attacked a 13-year-old girl and her minor brother with a sword, resulting in the girl's immediate death. Following the attack, Ashutosh reportedly attempted to take his own life by jumping in front of a speeding bus.
The motive behind Ashutosh's attack on the siblings remains unclear. The injured brother was rushed by family members and locals to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for treatment, where his condition is reported to be critical.
