Forest officials capture rampaging bear in Koraput
Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: A bear that had been causing chaos at the Aunli Farm House in the Borigumma block of Koraput district was finally captured by a team of forest officials on Wednesday. The bear had been on the loose for two days, instilling panic among locals and causing over 100 laborers at the farmhouse to refuse to work out of fear.
The forest department, with assistance from a tranquilization team, successfully sedated the bear and captured it using a net. The bear has been placed in a cage and will be kept at the Borigumma range office.
During the capture operation, one forest official sustained injuries after being attacked by the bear.
The capture of the bear has brought significant relief to the locals, who had been living in fear due to its presence.
On Tuesday, the bear attacked a Forest Department vehicle, tearing off the bonnet with its sharp claws while officials were still inside. Additionally, the bear entered a private farmhouse, causing over 100 staff members to flee for their lives and seek refuge on the rooftop, too afraid to come down.
