16 Kanwariya pilgrims injured in Dhenkanal road accident
Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: In a shocking incident today, a vehicle carrying 16 Kanwariya pilgrims overturned on NH 53 near Samal Chowk in Dhenkanal district.
The Kanwariyas were on their way to the Daudeswar Temple in Karamul for the Jalabhishek ritual when the driver lost control, resulting in the accident.
All 16 pilgrims were injured, with one in critical condition. Prompt action by police officials ensured that the injured were swiftly taken to the Bhuban Community Health Centre. More than five of them were later transferred to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
Additionally, a critically injured Kanwariya was transported to Cuttack Hospital with the assistance of MLA Kamakhyanagar Satrughan Jena.
The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the mishap after seizing the vehicle involved.
