Odisha Vigilance arrests engineer for disproportionate assets
Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Pravas Kumar Pradhan, Superintendent Engineer of the Irrigation Division in Balasore, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During searches of his properties, officials were astounded by the extent of his real estate holdings.
"Based on searches conducted on the properties of Pravas Kumar Pradhan, Chief Construction Engineer of the Anandpur Barrage Project, Salapada, Keonjhar, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including a five-storeyed building, a market complex, 85 plots, approximately 335 grams of gold, deposits over Rs.78 lakhs, and cash amounting to Rs.11.7 lakhs, which he could not satisfactorily account for," read the release issued by the anti-graft agency.
Balasore Vigilance has registered a case against Pradhan, and he will be forwarded to court today. Previously, Pradhan served as the Chief Construction Engineer of the Anandpur Barrage Project in Salapada, Keonjhar.
The Vigilance sleuths conducted searches following allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
