Class IX student found hanging in hostel; family suspects foul play

Bhubaneswar, July 31: A Class IX student was found hanging in a hostel bathroom at Padmapur in Bargarh district on Tuesday night.
The student, identified as Prince Kumbhar from Jhankarapali village under Melachamunda police limits, was staying at Anwesa Hostel while pursuing his education. Although Prince was discovered dead in the hostel bathroom, his family suspects foul play and is calling for an investigation into his death.
According to the hostel superintendent, Prince had gone to his room after dinner and later locked himself in the bathroom. Despite repeated knocking by his friends, he did not respond. The hostel authorities eventually broke down the bathroom door and found him hanging. He was immediately taken to Padmapur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police have been notified and have sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Prince’s uncle reported, “We received a call from the hostel authorities at 10 pm, asking us to come to the hostel. Later, we were instructed to go to the Padmapur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where we were shocked to find him dead. We believe this was not a suicide but a murder.”
