CMs of Odisha and Bengal discuss potato shortage solutions in New Delhi

Bhubaneswar, July 27: In a bid to resolve the ongoing potato supply crisis in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, in New Delhi on Saturday.
During their discussion, CM Majhi expressed deep concern over the acute shortage of potatoes in Odisha, which has led to a significant surge in prices. This shortage is primarily due to the restricted supply from West Bengal, a major potato-producing state. CM Majhi sought CM Banerjee’s immediate intervention to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of potatoes to Odisha.
The meeting aimed to find a lasting solution to the potato supply crisis, ensuring that Odisha's markets are adequately stocked. Both Chief Ministers are currently in New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The urgency of the potato crisis was highlighted amidst the broader economic discussions, underscoring the vital importance of agricultural cooperation between states to stabilize local markets and support consumers.
