Six students fall ill after consuming mid-day meal in Balasore

Bhubaneswar, July 27: As many as six students reportedly fell sick after consuming a mid-day meal at Baniasia Primary School in Kedarpur panchayat under Soro block in Balasore district on Saturday. According to sources, around 35 students were served egg curry and rice for lunch. However, six students began experiencing severe stomach pain and chest discomfort shortly after eating the meal.
The affected students—Janmajay Das, Subhalakhmi Behera, Rajashree Behera, Subhalakhmi Panda, Bhagyasri Das, and Bidusmita Behera—were promptly taken to Soro Hospital by their teachers using a 108 ambulance. The quick response ensured that the children received immediate medical attention.
Following primary treatment, the condition of all the ailing students is reported to be stable. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and quality of the mid-day meals provided to students, prompting calls for a thorough investigation to prevent such occurrences in the future.
