Bhubaneswar, July 27: A sarpanch was brutally beaten up by miscreants near the Dunguripali block office in Subarnapur district. The Icchapur sarpanch, Prashant Sahu, was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The incident occurred yesterday when Prashant and his aide were getting into a car while leaving the block office. Two miscreants intercepted them, dragging the sarpanch out of the vehicle and assaulting him. Prashant managed to escape to a nearby government quarter. The attackers pursued him, attempting to break into the residence but fled the scene when they failed.

Initially, Prashant was admitted to the Dunguripali Community Health Centre in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, the Dunguripali police have launched an investigation into the attack. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for the assault.
