SRC issues high alert in Kandhamal amid severe flooding

Bhubaneswar, July 26: On Friday, the Odisha government issued a high alert in Kandhamal district following heavy rainfall that has caused widespread waterlogging, inundating roads and bridges, and severely disrupting normal life.
The relentless downpour has effectively brought the district to a standstill, with many roads and bridges completely submerged underwater. This severe weather prompted the Special Relief Commissioner to issue a high alert and instruct the Kandhamal Collector to stay vigilant and monitor the situation closely, as some roads and bridges are overtopping due to the persistent rain.
Sources report that the incessant rainfall has submerged several low-lying areas, making roads impassable and severely disrupting vehicular movement. As a precautionary measure, people have been strictly advised against venturing out in the affected areas. The situation remains critical, with the local administration working to manage the impact of the flooding and ensure public safety during this challenging period.
