Bhubaneswar, July 25: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after poisoning his daughter to death in the Debottara Lane 4 area under Town police limits in Nayagarh district.

Police have seized the bodies of the deceased, identified as Pulak Biswal and his daughter Palak. Reports indicate that Pulak had remarried three months ago following the death of his first wife.

On Monday, Pulak’s second wife went to her father’s house. After staying there for two days, she returned to Nayagarh and found the door locked from the inside. Despite trying for a long time, she couldn't open the door. Growing suspicious, she informed the police.

In the presence of the local magistrate, the Town Police arrived late at night and broke open the door to Pulak’s house. Inside, they found the body of the 5-year-old daughter on the bed and Pulak's body hanging from a ceiling fan.

The police have initiated an investigation to determine the reason behind Pulak's drastic actions. They are questioning Pulak’s second wife and her family members but have not yet uncovered any strong motive for the suicide.
