Odisha BJP chooses Bhabani Shankar Bhoi as Deputy Speaker candidate
Bhubaneswar, July 23: Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, the elected member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Talsara constituency in Sundergarh district of Odisha, has filed nominations for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. He submitted his nomination papers at the office of the Assembly Secretary.
In a significant decision, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Odisha has chosen Talsara MLA Bhabani Shankar Bhoi for the role of Deputy Speaker.
Bhoi filed his nomination in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singhdeo and Pravati Parida, and other ministers.
Bhoi, a second-term MLA, was first elected in the 2019 elections and recently re-elected in the 2024 polls from Talsara on a BJP ticket. In the recent elections, he defeated Binaya Kumar Toppo of the BJD by 17,189 votes.
