ORFA felicitates rugby players during AGM

ORFA felicitates rugby players during AGM

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Rugby Football Association (ORFA) on Sunday felicitated four senior men rugby players of Odisha during their annual general body meeting held here.


The Odisha players Ganesh Majhi, Ajit Hansdah, Asis Sabar and Shanawaz Ahmad named in the 31-member senior national camp for the Asia Rugby Men’s Trophy at Doha from 3-4 November and Asia Rugby Regional Qualifiers to be held at Osaka , Japan from 18-19 November 2024.


The national camp to be held in two phases at SAI centre at Kolkata from 1-20 August and 24th September to 2 October. 


More than 17 districts members were participated in the annual general body meeting.  Many vital discussions were took place in the AGM.


ORFA Secretary Upendra Kumar Mohanty said "Our Women players always proved their metal in the National circuit.  Presently our men players also doing better.  Four of them got the entry for the preparation of Asia Championship and Asia Regional Qualifiers".


It was decided during the AGM that as our women and men team bagged gold and bronze medals respectively in the last National Games.  To put forward the best teams for the upcoming National Games a two months long State selection and trail camp to be held at Bhubaneswar in the month of September, added Upendra.


To popularise Rugby sports in the grassroot label,  in this year the ORFA will host a ASMITA Khelo India School Rugby Championship in our State,  said ORFA president Priyadarshi Mishra. 


ORFA Treasurer Shakti Ranjan Mohanty, Joint Secretary Sushanta Kumar Sahu, coaches Manas Kumar Jena and Dhiren Kumar Rout wished good luck to the players.
