Police team assaulted while executing arrest warrant in Odisha village

Bhubaneswar, July 20: At least eight police personnel, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), an Assistant Sub-Inspector, and six constables, were injured during an attack while attempting to execute an arrest warrant in Odisha.
The incident occurred in Barkote village, Nuapada district, on Friday evening.
Initial reports indicate that a team from Komna Police had gone to the village to arrest Ashok Sahu, for whom a warrant was pending. The police team was allegedly attacked by 20 to 25 individuals, including women from Sahu's family.
Sub-Inspector Vishnu Prasad Pradhan, Assistant Sub-Inspector Tarun Kumar Sahu, and six constables from Komna police station sustained injuries in the attack. The assailants not only prevented the arrest but also reportedly vandalized the police van. The injured police officers were subsequently transported to the Komna Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical treatment.
