Dhabaleswar Temple enforces plastic ban for Shravan month rituals

Bhubaneswar, July 18: Reports on Thursday confirmed a plastic ban at Dhabaleswar Temple in Cuttack district, Odisha. The ban, specifically imposed at the shrine of Baba Dhabaleswar in Athgarh, prohibits the use of plastic containers during the holy month of Shravan this year.
Devotees, known as Kauriyas, will not be permitted to pour water on Baba Dhabaleswar if they bring water in plastic pots. The Dhabaleswar Temple Administration has mandated the use of only brass or earthen containers for this purpose.
Priests have clarified that devotees can offer water to Baba Dhabaleswar five times during Shravan, with rules set during a committee meeting. Devotees must leave their kawads (sticks) outside and can only carry water pots inside the temple, passing through barricades.
The temple administration emphasizes sanitation, health, and hygiene, with police ensuring order and peace on the temple premises throughout the Shravan month, as per annual practice.
