Ratna Bhandar opening unlikely on July 8 due to Rath Yatra, says Justice Pasayat

Bhubaneswar, July 4: Ratna Bhandar may not be opened on July 8 due to the Rath Yatra, stated Justice Arijit Pasayat, head of the committee overseeing the inventory of valuables in the Ratna Bhandar (treasure trove) of Puri Srimandir, on Thursday.
Justice Pasayat made this announcement upon his arrival in Bhubaneswar. He will remain in Puri until July 27 and will attend the supervising committee meeting, which consists of 12 members, on July 5, according to sources.
Pasayat indicated that the likelihood of opening Ratna Bhandar on July 8 is low due to the Rath Yatra. “The decision to open the treasury will be made by the government. Our work will commence as soon as the government decides to open Ratna Bhandar.”
“We will determine the process and modalities of the counting during the Ratna Bhandar inventorisation committee meeting tomorrow. These modalities will be implemented once Ratna Bhandar is opened,” said Pasayat.
