Bhubaneswar, July 3: Tension erupted at a private nursing home in Cuttack's Manglabag area following the death of a 14-year-old boy due to alleged medical negligence on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Mallick from Jajpur district, reportedly died after receiving a wrong injection.

According to family members, Rashmi was admitted to the nursing home for a minor surgery. Just before the operation, doctors administered an injection. Rashmi lost consciousness and his condition quickly deteriorated. He was placed on a ventilator but was later declared dead.

Rashmi’s family claims a faulty injection caused his death, while hospital authorities deny these allegations, calling them baseless. The boy's father, Rabindra Mallick, has filed a complaint with Manglabag police, demanding strict action against the responsible doctors.

Following the complaint, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
