Yellow warning issued for heavy rain in eight Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, June 29: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rain across several parts of Odisha over the next two days due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in eight districts: Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Bhadrak.
Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is expected in the districts of Khurda, Puri, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Koraput.
The weather department has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain tomorrow in four districts: Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, and Keonjhar.
In light of the weather conditions, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has instructed district collectors in the affected areas to remain alert. The SRC emphasized that administrative machinery should be prepared to face any potential eventualities, noting that urban areas may experience waterlogging, and roads and drains could be submerged.
