Bhubaneswar, June 27: Three police officers, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), have been transferred following the circulation of a viral video showing them assaulting a woman and dragging her into the Chandbali police station while she screamed.

Condemning the incident, Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered the transfer of the officers involved.

The video shows the woman being beaten and dragged by police officers on the premises of Chandbali Police Station. Despite her efforts to protect herself, the officers grabbed her by her legs and hands, eventually throwing her out of the station premises.

According to the woman, her husband, a driver, had been detained by the police in connection with a case. When informed, she and her minor sister-in-law went to the police station. While there, an accused was being processed and given new shoes, leaving the shoe cover discarded.

The woman stated that her infant was playing with the shoe cover, which she threw aside. A police constable then asked her to dispose of it in a dustbin, but she refused. Angered, the constable allegedly slapped her and beat her with a stick. Subsequently, two other male officers allegedly heckled her and dragged her into the police station, during which her saree was torn.
