Bhartruhari Mahtab sworn in as pro-tem Speaker of 18th Lok Sabha
Bhubaneswar, June 24: Senior parliamentarian and seven-term Member of Parliament from the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency, Bhartruhari Mahtab, was sworn in as the pro-tem Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday.
The oath of office was administered to Mahtab by President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Mahtab has represented the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency since 1998. He was honored with the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 2017 and has received four Sansad Ratna awards in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 for his exceptional performance in parliamentary debates.
The veteran parliamentarian is the son of Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab, the first Chief Minister of Odisha.
