Normalcy returns in Balasore with school reopenings, internet services

Bhubaneswar, June 24: Normalcy has returned to Balasore district, Odisha, with the reopening of schools and the restoration of internet services to normal levels. The situation in Balasore city is gradually stabilizing.
After an eight-day hiatus, mobile internet services have been reinstated in the city. Additionally, schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers have resumed operations today. However, a curfew remains in effect until midnight, specifically from 5 am to 9 pm in Sahdevkhunta area and from 5 am to 2 pm in the Town police area.
District Magistrate Ashish Thakare and SP Sagarika Nath emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found spreading rumors or misinformation on social media. A significant police presence continues to be deployed in sensitive areas under the Town Police Station.
Since the imposition of the curfew, there have been no incidents of disorder reported. Authorities have registered 21 cases and arrested 89 individuals. Plans are underway for a peace-building meeting in the coming days following a skirmish between two groups last Monday.
