Son accused of killing elderly parents over land dispute
Bhubaneswar, June 22: In a shocking incident in Garasanga village under Simulia police jurisdiction in Balasore district, an intoxicated man allegedly murdered his parents over a land dispute.
According to sources, 90-year-old Bulei Behera and his 75-year-old wife Champa Behera had been missing for four days. Their daughter, Mamata Mallick, filed a missing persons report with Simulia police, accusing her brother Ramesh Behera of the crime.
Following Mamata’s complaint, police initiated an investigation. Bulei’s body was found in front of his house, though Champa's body remains missing.
On Thursday night, police, acting on a foul smell, dug up a spot in front of the house and discovered Bulei’s body. The recovery was supervised by Magistrate Sandeep Subhadarshan Bhol, Simulia IIC Swarnalata Minj, and a scientific team.
Police believe that Ramesh buried his parents to cover up the murders before fleeing. It is suspected that he might have disposed of his mother’s body in a nearby pond to evade arrest.
