Tusker electrocuted in Sambalpur village while searching for food

Bhubaneswar, June 17: A tusker was found dead at Basiapada village under Sambalpur Sadar Forest Range early Monday morning.
According to sources, the elephant entered the village in search of food and came into contact with live wires while attempting to break into a house, leading to its death.
Upon being informed, Forest Department officials arrived at the scene and began an investigation to determine the exact cause of the elephant’s death.
Locals reported that the elephant had been roaming the area alone for the past few years, frequently causing havoc by entering the village at night and destroying crops. It often broke into paddy storage sheds, leading to significant crop damage.
The tusker was also reported to have trampled an elderly man to death.
