Odisha sizzles as 14 locations report extreme temperatures above 40°C

Bhubaneswar, June 12: On Wednesday, 14 locations in Odisha experienced temperatures reaching 40°C and above, as reported by the evening weather bulletin from the regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in the state capital.
Nuapada registered the highest temperature in the state at 42.2°C, followed closely by Jharsuguda at 42.1°C, and Boudh at 42°C. Other locations experiencing high temperatures included Sambalpur at 41.8°C, Rourkela at 41.2°C, Keonjhar at 41.2°C, Sundargarh at 40.9°C, Baripada at 40.6°C, Talcher at 40.6°C, Bargarh at 40.5°C, Sonepur at 40.2°C, Hirakud at 40.1°C, Angul at 40.1°C, and Dhenkanal at 40°C.
Additionally, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the twin cities, recorded maximum temperatures of 38°C and 37.5°C respectively.
The midday weather bulletin from the IMD stated that conditions are favorable for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into more parts of Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and the northwest Bay of Bengal over the next 3-4 days.
