Elderly woman trampled to death by rogue elephant in Angul

Bhubaneswar, June 8: An elderly woman was trampled to death by a rogue elephant while she was plucking mangoes. The incident occurred on Saturday in Anlabereni village, located within the Handapa Forest Area in Angul district.
The deceased has been identified as Asha Dehuri. Reports indicate that Dehuri had gone to a nearby orchard early in the morning to pluck mangoes when the tusker attacked her. Although she managed to run some distance to escape, the elephant chased her down and trampled her to death.
Dehuri’s tragic death has caused tension in the village, with locals demanding compensation for her family.
Forest officials were informed and have since arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
