BJP MLA Prashant Jagdev granted interim bail for oath-taking ceremony

Bhubaneswar, June 7: On Friday, Additional District Judge-I granted interim bail to BJP’s Khurda MLA Prashant Jagdev, who was arrested on May 26 for allegedly toppling an EVM and assaulting two polling personnel at a booth during the voting process.
The court granted Jagdev bail for three days, from June 9 to June 12. Jagdev's lawyer stated that the bail was granted to allow him to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the Odisha Chief Minister and participate in the tenth-day death ceremony rituals of his relatives.
It is noteworthy that Jagdev was arrested by the police for disrupting the voting process at booth no. 114 in Kaunripatana, Bolagarh block, Bengunia Assembly constituency on May 25, following a complaint by the presiding officer.
After his arrest, Jagdev was detained and subsequently taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital from Khurda jail on May 22, where he is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Medicine ward, according to sources.
