Southwest monsoon expected in Odisha by June 10

Bhubaneswar, June 7: The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Odisha on June 10.
"Conditions are quite favorable for the monsoon's arrival. The southwest monsoon typically reaches Odisha in the second week of June. We anticipate it will arrive in south Odisha within the next three to four days," said Manorama Mohanty, director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar.
The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 5.
According to the latest IMD update, the southwest monsoon has advanced over the entire south Arabian Sea, parts of the central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and parts of the Bay of Bengal. It is expected to reach Odisha by June 10.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for the Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Koraput districts, forecasting heavy rainfall in these areas.
The arrival of the monsoon will provide a significant boost to agricultural activities, which have been adversely affected by scanty rainfall in the state.
