BSKY rumors quashed: Odisha Health Secretary asserts scheme's validity

Bhubaneswar, June 6: Addressing the prevailing uncertainty surrounding the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), Odisha's Health Secretary, Shalini Pandit, affirmed the continued validity of the health scheme initiated by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government.
Pandit clarified that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and private hospitals regarding BSKY remains in effect. She dismissed rumors suggesting otherwise, emphasizing that healthcare services for BSKY cardholders are still accessible.
Following the recent victory of the BJP in the state's Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, misinformation began circulating that private hospitals in Odisha would cease offering treatment to BSKY beneficiaries. Consequently, several individuals have reportedly been turned away by these hospitals.
Contrary to these rumors, Pandit reassured the public that BSKY remains operational in the state.
Earlier, BJP's state unit president, Manmohan Samal, had stated that upon forming the government in Odisha, the BJP would replace BSKY with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme.
