48 hours on, no clues in case of missing Malkangiri doctor

Bhubaneswar, June 3: It's been 48 hours since Dr. Amlan Bhoi, who works at the Kalimela Community Health Center (CHC) in Odisha's Malkangiri district, went missing from his official residence on June 1, and the police remain clueless about his whereabouts or whether he has been abducted.
Although media reports suggest that Dr. Bhoi was abducted by Maoists, Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel informed Ommcom Media on Monday that there is no evidence to support this claim. "We are investigating the matter from various angles but have not considered the Maoist angle. Nothing suggests that Dr. Bhoi was abducted by Maoists," Patel said.
Patel further explained, "If the Maoists had abducted Dr. Bhoi, there would be some indication or instances of his interactions with them. There is no such evidence." He added, "However, further investigation is underway, and we are confident of finding him."
In response to a question about surveillance, Patel noted, "As no CCTV is installed near Dr. Amlan Bhoi’s official residence, we do not have any CCTV footage of his activities." Earlier reports indicated that some unidentified miscreants allegedly abducted Dr. Bhoi shortly after he returned to his quarters after completing his duty on June 1.
Dr. Bhoi, who hails from the Tikabali area in Kandhamal district, has been posted at the Kalimela CHC for some time.
