Renowned singer Jitendra Haripal hospitalized in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, May 14: Jitendra Haripal, the celebrated Odia folksinger known for his iconic song 'Rangabati', has been hospitalized in a private facility in Sambalpur, Odisha, due to illness.
Reports indicate that Haripal was admitted to the hospital late Monday night after experiencing severe body pain. A team of medical professionals is currently attending to him. Although his ailment has not been confirmed, doctors suggest that surgery may be necessary.
Haripal gained widespread acclaim for his rendition of 'Rangabati', a popular Sambalpuri song performed as a duet with co-singer Krishna Patel. With a repertoire exceeding 1000 songs, he is revered as a leading figure in Sambalpuri music.
In recognition of his significant contribution to Indian music, Haripal was honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in 2017.
