Massive security deployment as PM Modi plans roadshow in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, May 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a roadshow in Bhubaneswar on May 10, in anticipation of the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.
According to his itinerary, Narendra Modi will lead the roadshow from Mastercanteen Square to Vani Vihar, commencing at 6 PM on May 10 (Friday). Following this, he will stay overnight in the State Capital City and conduct a significant public gathering in Balangir on the subsequent day (May 11).
This marks Modi’s second visit to the State within a week. Previously, on May 5, he arrived in Bhubaneswar and stayed overnight at the Raj Bhawan. On May 6, he addressed public assemblies in Berhampur and Nabarangpur, advocating support for party candidates.
Meanwhile, a contingent of Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos, alongside Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh and other senior police officials, reviewed the on-ground security arrangements between Mastercanteen Square and Vani Vihar. Representatives from various security and administrative bodies, including the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), were also in attendance.
Barricades will be installed on both sides of the road from Mastercanteen Square to Vani Vihar, and the area will be designated as a no-fly zone. The entire route will undergo sanitization.
A total of 55 platoons of police forces will be deployed, accompanied by 5 DCPs, 10 Additional DCPs, 27 ACPs, 41 Inspectors, and 180 other officers. Furthermore, three units of the anti-terrorist special tactical unit (STU) will be stationed, and the entire roadshow area will be cordoned off by dog and bomb squads.
The State unit of the BJP has already commenced preparations for the Prime Minister's grand roadshow in Bhubaneswar.
