Preparations underway: Fourth phase of wood reaches Puri for Rath Yatra

Puri, May 7: The fourth phase of wood logs destined for Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra has arrived in Puri from Aska in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Sources report that 14 logs have made their way to the Badadanda. Allegedly, a total of 50 phashi woods are required for the construction of the chariots, with the remaining logs anticipated to arrive in the coming days.
The crafting of the renowned Puri Rath Yatra's chariots is set to commence on Akhyatrutiya Tithi, slated for May 10 this year.
It's noteworthy that this year's Rath Yatra necessitates a total of 865 wood pieces, with 53 pieces remaining from the previous year. However, 33 pieces have been dispatched to Cuttack on Ram Navami. As of now, 127 pieces of Rath wood have been received in two phases.
Per tradition, the initial logs for the chariot construction ought to reach Puri before Saraswati Puja. It's important to mention that the Rath Yatra is scheduled for July 7, 2024.
Moreover, it's been announced that devotees will be permitted to enter the Shree Gundicha temple starting from the 2024 Rath Yatra, as disclosed by the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in November 2023.
Addressing reporters following a meeting with relevant officials, Das stated that the developmental work at the Shree Gundicha Temple is set to commence soon and is anticipated to span five to six months for completion.
