Rs 30 lakh seized from car on Malkangiri-Chhattisgarh border

Bhubaneswar, April 24: Reports emerged on Wednesday of the seizure of 30 lakh rupees from a car in Malkangiri, Odisha. The currency, along with the vehicle, was intercepted at the Malkangiri-Chhattisgarh border.
Allegedly en route from Chhattisgarh to Malkangiri, the car and money were apprehended at Challanguda during their journey from Chhattisgarh.
According to reports, both the individual present in the car and the driver are undergoing police interrogation. Their failure to provide satisfactory answers regarding the origin and destination of the money has prompted further investigation by the authorities.
This incident follows an earlier seizure on April 18, when the Bargarh Town police intercepted a man with cash exceeding Rs 10 lakh during vehicle inspections in Bargarh district.
In light of the upcoming elections and in compliance with the directives of the Election Commission, local police have intensified vehicle checks to prevent the illegal transportation of money, alcohol, and other prohibited substances aimed at influencing the public.
During routine inspections at Haldipali Chahaka in Bargarh district, a flying squad led by additional tehsildar Dibakar Pradhan intercepted a Mahindra Bolero Pikup van bearing registration number OD 15U 3256. Upon examination, the authorities discovered Rs 10 lakh inside the vehicle, leading to the detention of the driver, identified as Chudamani Dora from Gopalmal village in Sambalpur district. Dora, hailing from Barapali area, was reportedly en route to Sambalpur.
