Teacher suspended for involvement in political rally in Boudh

Bhubaneswar, April 13: An assistant teacher at Dahya Government Nodal High School faced suspension after participating in an election rally organized by a political party in Boudh district.
Following an investigation, the Boudh Collector and District Election Officer found Sanghamitra Mallick guilty of violating the model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Consequently, disciplinary action was taken, and Mallick was suspended with immediate effect.
The ECI's order dated March 15, 2024, along with the Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, prohibits government servants from affiliating with political or communal parties or organizations engaged in political or communal activities. Additionally, they are barred from supporting or participating in any political or communal movements or activities.
Sanghamitra Mallick allegedly took part in a political rally organized by a party in the Kantamal Assembly Constituency, traveling between Palaspat and Ambagaon in Boudh district, in defiance of the ECI guidelines for the upcoming elections.
