Eid spirit soars in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar as thousands gather for special prayers

Bhubaneswar, April 11: The Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were enveloped in a joyous atmosphere as Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with fervor, gathering at mosques to offer special prayers, exchange greetings, and share in feasts with loved ones.
Despite intermittent rain and inclement weather, thousands of faithful adorned in festive attire thronged mosques in both cities to partake in the morning prayers, signaling the end of Ramadan's month-long fasting period.
The spirit of camaraderie was palpable as people embraced each other warmly, exchanged gifts, and savored traditional dishes, with 'sewayian' being a highlight. Elders generously gave 'eidee' (token money) to children and extended alms to the less fortunate, embodying the spirit of giving and compassion.
Eid-ul-Fitr, deeply rooted in Islamic tradition, holds profound significance as it commemorates the end of Ramadan and Prophet Muhammad's receipt of the first vision of the Holy Quran in 624 AD. Additionally, it symbolizes the Prophet's victory in the Battle of Badr.
Known as the "Sweet Eid," Eid-ul-Fitr is a time of immense joy, gratitude, and unity for Muslims worldwide, symbolizing a period of renewal and spiritual fulfillment. As communities come together to celebrate, the essence of Eid-ul-Fitr resonates with the principles of harmony, generosity, and goodwill.
