Odisha set to heat up again as rainfall reprieve fades

Bhubaneswar, April 10: After a brief respite from heatwave conditions due to rainfall this week, Odisha braces for rising temperatures again in the upcoming days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum day temperatures are expected to gradually increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius across many places in Odisha over the next three days, with no significant change thereafter.
Following a nor’wester that affected 10 districts, bringing relief from the heat, Odisha witnessed a notable drop in day temperatures. However, the regional IMD forecast indicates a rise in mercury levels by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across several areas after four days, although day temperatures are anticipated to remain within normal range for most of the week. In the capital city, Bhubaneswar, the day temperature is expected to range between 36°C and 38°C until Saturday.
Dr. Manorama Mohanty, Director of IMD Odisha, stated on Monday that rainfall activity is anticipated in the state due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal. Consequently, light to moderate rainfall and thundershower activity are expected at many places until Thursday.
According to the weather report, light rain is likely to occur at one or two places in districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur today.
