Odisha constable dies on election duty in Tamil Nadu

Bhubaneswar, April 9: Constable Pramod Kumar Majhi from the fifth Indian Reserve Battalion, Boudh, tragically passed away while on election duty in Trichy, Tamil Nadu.
Sources from the police department revealed that 30 companies of Odisha Police were deployed in Tamil Nadu for security duty, accommodated at a private college along the Tiruchi – Chennai national highway in Perambalur.
The 38-year-old constable sustained critical head injuries after being struck by a two-wheeler at Thaneerpandal on April 4. He was promptly taken to Mahatma Gandhi Government General Hospital in Tiruchi but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.
Hailing from Dharmabandha village in Nuapada district, Majhi had enlisted in the Odisha Police force in 2009. Following the post-mortem examination, the constable's body was transported to Chennai and then flown to Odisha.
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Kumar Sarangi, along with other senior officers, has expressed condolences over Majhi's untimely demise.
