Heat scorches Bhubaneswar: Mercury soars near 44°C, IMD issues warnings

Bhubaneswar, April 5: As anticipated, Bhubaneswar sees temperatures near 44 degrees Celsius, with the mercury hitting 43.2 degrees Celsius by 2:30 PM on Friday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
By 11 AM, temperatures had already surpassed 39 degrees Celsius, causing significant discomfort for commuters and residents alike in Bhubaneswar. Several districts across Odisha have been grappling with intense heat waves in recent days.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heat waves in 14 districts of Odisha over the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Centre has issued a heat wave warning for 14 districts of Odisha. "Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in one or two places across the districts of Khurda, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Boudh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Angul, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, and Jharsuguda," stated the weather bulletin.
In addition to the heat wave, the IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in various parts of the state in the coming days, offering some relief from the sweltering conditions.
