RTI activists charged with spreading misinformation on VK Pandian's security

Bhubaneswar, April 3: The Commissionerate Police has filed charges against three RTI activists for allegedly disseminating 'false and misleading information' regarding the security arrangements for 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman V K Pandian.
Sanjeev Panda, Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, announced on Wednesday that Prakash Das, Srikant Pakal, and Pradip Pradhan from Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan (OSAA), an organization of RTI activists, have been named in the case filed at Saheed Nagar police station.
This action follows the recent petition by the BJP to the State Election Commission, requesting the withdrawal of what they deemed as excessive security privileges granted to Pandian. Citing information disclosed by the three RTI activists, the BJP asserted that Pandian's security contingent of 74 personnel exceeded the prescribed Z+ cover of 55 guards.
The RTI activists had shared this information during a press briefing in the capital on March 29. Commissioner Panda dismissed their assertions as unsubstantiated and lacking in credibility.
