Commissionerate Police busts Eragola gang: Eleven members arrested in robbery spree

Bhubaneswar, April 3: A Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police apprehended eleven members of the notorious Eragola gang on Wednesday, responsible for a string of robberies across the state.
Sanjeev Panda, Commissioner of Police for the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, disclosed that the police confiscated Rs 2 lakh in cash and 17 gold chains from the criminals.
Originating from Tippa Colony in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, all suspects are affiliated with the Eragola tribe and are known for their involvement in thefts and robberies nationwide.
The gang specializes in targeting individuals returning from banks after withdrawing money and women adorned with gold jewelry. Additionally, they are notorious for breaking into vehicles and pilfering valuables from cars, scooters, and motorcycles.
Commissionerate Police observed a troubling trend wherein incidents of snatching, theft, and burglary were perpetrated by criminals from other states. In response to numerous complaints, the Special Squad swiftly took action, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects.
