Bhubaneswar, April 1: Simultaneous income tax raids have been initiated at numerous properties associated with Subrata Kumar Chattoi in Bhubaneswar since 4:00 am on Monday. The operations target Chattoi's coaching institute and residences within the capital city, citing allegations of substantial income tax evasion.

According to reports, the raids commenced early this morning, with Income Tax officials scrutinizing documents and bank accounts affiliated with the institute, which offers coaching services for IAS, OAS, UPSC, and various other competitive examinations. It has been reported that the Income Tax sleuths have seized several documents from the institute as part of their investigation.

To facilitate the investigation process, the entire area has been cordoned off, and entry to the coaching institute has been restricted for both students and staff since the morning.

Notably, in March 2023, a team from the Central Goods and Services Tax (GST) had conducted multiple raids across different centers of the private coaching institute on suspicions of tax evasion.
