Continuing heatwave grips Odisha, mercury set to soar by 2 degrees Celsius

Bhubaneswar : The weather office reported on Saturday that hot, humid conditions persist across various regions, with Odisha set to experience a rise in temperatures by up to 2 degrees Celsius over the next three days.
According to the IMD forecast, daytime temperatures are expected to increase by 2°C in numerous areas over the next two days.
On Friday, five towns including Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Titlagarh, Boudh, and Nayagarh surpassed 40°C, joined by several other interior locations. Mercury levels ranged from 38°C to over 39°C in 11 additional towns, with Bhubaneswar recording 37.5°C.
Notably, temperatures soared above 39 degrees Celsius in five places, with Angul and Jharsuguda both reporting 39.1°C. Talcher experienced scorching heat at 39.8°C, while Phulbani recorded 39.2°C. Similarly, temperatures reached 39°C in other areas.
The IMD forecasts a gradual increase of 2 degrees Celsius in temperatures over the next 48 hours across many parts of the state, with no significant change expected thereafter.
